"... if you want to brave the nine hell ninjas circle!"
We went back to WCBN last night, and we're almost done with that location. We just need to do one more short scene there... and the best part is, we can't find a time to do it!
I had Chris and Rachel in to record last night, before we got started. The sessions went well, although they were primarily valuable as learning experiences rather than as actual recording sessions. Unfortunately, I ended up running late and being kind of useless to the team of people hauling equipment to WCBN. Fortunately, though, they had to bo buy more tape for the cameras, so I ended up getting to the station before they did.
Set up went quickly, and we spent the night focusing on one scene--and important one, wherein Le Strat and Populor face off in a music-off. We started with Populor, recording her dialogue, then her short bits of music (including dancing ninjas). Apparently, people in the cast feel that Populor's music really sucks. I'm not sure what to do about it right now, but it's working through my mind. Then, we just cleared up some more shots of Populor from the same angle, and moved on to shooting the band.
We got Le Strat and his band coming in and sassing Populor, and then moved on to one of my favorite bits of this entire movie: Le Strat's half of the music off. The fake band was good. Way better than we could have expected. Most of them did not know how to play their instruments, but they had a lot of enthusiasm, which counted greatly. Then, after everyone was sweaty, we shot the beginning and end of the scene.
We ran incredibly late because, of course, we started late; we always do, and there apparently is nothing we can do about it. By the time we were packing up, everyone had basically gone home but for a handful of people, and we finally got home around 2 in the morning.
